Hey come on guys, do you do this on another site? I don't think so. Mark should be able to give out fines to jerks like this!!!! This has got to be so annoying. Who in their right mind would want to even consider buying anything from these jerks? Don't they know it is a waste of time? MORONS!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been on other sites and never ever saw anything like this. Give us a break will you huh? Louise |

Hello
I lived in Red Hook from 1962 to 1991, right off West 9th street and Columbia. I have heard so many wonderful things about Red Hook and heard that on 8-13-05, Red Hook celebrated Old Timers Day in Coffee park. I still have tons of family there and I last visited 3 yrs. ago. Didn't recognize many people. Are there any pics of Red Hook Old Timers Day ? I went to PS 27, then JHS 142 and finally John Jay HS. Went to college and grad. School in Manhattan. Live in Orlando Florida since 1994.
My brothers are Nelson Mendez, David and Myriam. Nelson was very well known in Red Hook. Just love the new emergence of a wonderful place with fabilous memories. Love to hear from old friends. Please email at nminier [at] yahoo.com Always proud of my well rounded experiences in Red Hook. |

To Louise......thanks for the info. Yes I do miss everything about Brooklyn. I now live in Florida and enjoy reading all the info about Bklyn. Especially the old neighborhood stuff. I visited about three years ago and wanted to go into St Agnes but it was locked up. I walked up my old street and there were some of my old friends sitting on the stoop just like years ago. It was great. Sometimes I wonder what happened to all the girls I hung around with. Take care........esther |

This is for Esther....College Bakery closed not Court Pastry. The Pannel store, Ferdinans(spelling is off I know)is still there with all the yummy specials. I remember that big clock right on Columbia St. I wonder what they did with it when they took it down. That was a great neighborhood back then wasn't it with the wagons with everything you could think of. I miss all that don't you? |

Hi everyone back from NY. Didn't get to make it to Brooklyn. I notice you are going to have a show for Longshoreman! I would love to get more info on that. My dad was a hatchboss Pier 4. My Uncle Romeo and Uncle Augie were also longshoreman. Several of my cousins were too, My Mom must have lots of photos from those days. As a matter of fact Romeo (Garbelotto) was a Superintendent in NJ for some years. One person responded to an email and I just wanted to clarify that I am in 56 and not in my 70's. My favorite lemon ice...Monteleones!!! I took my husband there several years ago to prove that it was the best. Still shocked about Court Pastry closing. Anyone have an info on the "Parnell Store" on Union Street near Columbia. My fathers family grew up on Columbia Street near the big clock. My Mom and Dad met at the movie house at the time. It's great to remember all this stuff!!! Thanks and hope to find some old friends...................Sackett between Hoyt and Smith!!! |

Barschow's, collector of scrap iron in the city,(Dwight & Coffey), had trucks without tires. The wheels had a coating of thick, black, solid gunk, & that was it. No flats! The drivers must have had calluses on their butts as they drove over the belgian block streets. The horn was a mechanical push thing away from the wheel. One of the Coffee's would drive by & call out to me ,"Hey Ross! Your A dirty face! Made me feel good, as that truck with iron passed by. |

To: Tom Banks I can remember as a kid my father, Pat Walsh Sr., telling me a story about driving a Daniels and Kennedy truck with rolls of paper, over the Manhattan Bridge and the chain on the chain brakes broke. He said he was hitting the horn and an Entennmans Truck making a right onto Canal Street just kept going. My father hit the truck and it went right through a storefront. |
