BE AWARE OF THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE LANE CLOSURES

The NYC Department of Transportation is performing rehabilitation work on the Brooklyn Bridge ramps and approaches, which are in urgent need of repair. As part of the project, the steel components of the entire span will also be repainted to prevent corrosion. This work started in the spring and will continue until 2014.
To facilitate this work, DOT announces that the Brooklyn Bridge will be closed to Manhattan-bound traffic overnight, beginning on Monday, August 23rd and will continue until this project is completed in 2014. All Brooklyn-bound traffic will be maintained, and there will be no closure of the pedestrian/cycling promenade. All work will occur during off-peak hours, and the bridge will be re-opened for traffic in both directions each morning.
Closure Times
On Weeknights: closures will begin at 11PM and the lanes will reopen at 6AM
Saturdays: closures will begin at 12:01AM and the lanes will reopen at 7AM
Sundays: closures will begin at 12:01AM and the lanes will reopen at 9AM

 Cape Cod Whale Watching
The best whale watching trip we have ever been on.
We left Provincetown on the 4:30pm trip aboard the Dolphin Fleet VIII on Tuesday, August 31. Hurricane Earl was on its way, but it was a magical night on the water. The seas were incredibly calm and the sky was solid blue.
As we approached the prime viewing area, spouts appeared all around us. The number of whales was phenomenal. I have been on lots of whale watching trips and have never witnessed so many in one space.
When the baby whale appeared beside the boat and began spinning in the water, waving its bright white fins at us, everyone on the boat became instant friends. We could not believe the show the whale gave us, including three breeches directly in front of us. It was mesmerizing!
